Koch Chemie 1K-Nano is a 250ml single-step nano paint sealant that forms a smooth protective layer through chemical bonding, combining gloss with easy cleaning. It suits users who want fewer coating steps but are willing to carry out professional surface preparation.

Description

Koch Chemie 1K-Nano Nano Coating comes in a 250ml size and uses a single-step sealing process to reduce the application time required for traditional two-step coatings, although paintwork cleaning and preparation are still required. The formula chemically bonds with the paintwork to form a smooth, glossy protective layer, offering chemical, UV and abrasion resistance while making deposits such as bird droppings and insect remains easier to remove. The coating fully cures after approximately 1–2 hours and provides protection for approximately 1 year. In terms of product positioning, 1K-Nano focuses on single-step application; the CarPro CQUARTZ range mainly comprises professional-grade two-step coatings, while Hydro2 Lite is a quick, wipe-free coating.

Basic cleaning and paintwork preparation: thoroughly wash the vehicle with an alkaline cleaner (such as Green Star), without using any shampoo containing sealants. First treat heavy contamination such as resin, iron particles and tar with clay, tar remover or similar products. For moderately to heavily weathered paintwork, machine-polish with Heavy Cut as required, then completely remove residue with an ultra-microfibre cloth. For lightly weathered paintwork or paintwork treated as above, machine-polish with a dual-action polisher and an anti-hologram foam pad, then wipe clean with an ultra-microfibre cloth after removing holograms.

For new paintwork or paintwork that has undergone the above treatment and is free from marks and scratches, suitable gloves must be worn from this stage onwards. Dampen a clean ultra-microfibre cloth with silicone and wax remover, gently wipe all surfaces, and immediately wipe dry with another new ultra-microfibre cloth before the remover dries. For sensitive solid-colour or single-stage paint, dilute the remover with water at 1:4 to avoid hazing; finally, gently wipe away any remaining streaks with another clean cloth. Check in sunlight or under a sodium lamp that there are no scratches or holograms. Do not touch the paintwork with bare hands afterwards; gloves must be worn.

Sealant application: apply only to fully cured paintwork, at an ambient temperature of 15–30°C, and work indoors to avoid outdoor dust. Shake the aluminium bottle thoroughly and pour a suitable amount into the supplied 75ml plastic bottle; this quantity is sufficient for approximately one medium-sized car. Using too little will affect the quality of the seal. For machine application, use a free-spinning dual-action polisher at low speed with a black finishing foam pad; for manual application, use a white foam pad without applying pressure. Work in sections such as the bonnet, doors and wings, treating no more than one panel at a time. Keep adding product and polish for approximately 2–3 minutes, using closely spaced, overlapping passes to promote even cross-linking and reduce cloudiness. After 2–3 minutes, stop adding product and continue polishing until a continuous, run-free film forms, then wait another 2–3 minutes for the film to dry completely. Finally, buff by hand with a clean ultra-microfibre cloth; after approximately 1–2 hours, the sealant layer fully cures to form chemical- and abrasion-resistant protection.

Directions

  • Thoroughly pre-wash or wash the vehicle with an alkaline product (such as Green Star), without using a shampoo with sealing properties; first treat resin, surface rust and tar with detailing clay, Teerwäsche or similar products.
  • Machine-polish moderately to heavily weathered paintwork with Heavy Cut and/or Feinschleifpaste as required; treat lightly weathered paintwork and holograms left after compounding with Hochglanz-Antihologramm-Politur, a dual-action polisher and an orange anti-hologram pad. Completely remove residue with a Profi microfibre cloth.
  • Wear suitable gloves, dampen a clean Profi microfibre cloth with Silicon- & Wachsentferner and wipe gently, then immediately wipe dry with a second clean cloth before it dries; for sensitive solid-colour or single-stage paint, dilute the cleaner with water at 1:4. Gently wipe away residual streaks and, once you have confirmed there are no scratches or holograms, do not touch the surface again with your palms or fingers.
  • Apply and cure indoors at 15–30°C, keeping the area ventilated. Shake the aluminium bottle thoroughly before use, then pour into the supplied 75 ml plastic bottle; this quantity is usually enough for one medium-sized car, and using too little will affect the sealing performance. Use only on fully cured paintwork.
  • A free-spinning dual-action polisher at low speed with a black finishing pad is recommended; alternatively, apply manually with a white pad without pressure, treating no more than one body panel at a time. Keep adding product and polish for approximately 2–3 minutes using multiple closely overlapping passes; then stop adding product and continue polishing until a continuous, run-free film forms.
  • Wait another 2–3 minutes, then buff the dried film by hand to a high gloss with a clean Profi microfibre cloth. It cures after approximately 1–2 hours of reaction time; streaks caused by excess product can be wiped away after curing or removed during the first wash. Do not wash the vehicle until at least 3 days afterwards.
  • Newly refinished paint must cure for approximately 6–8 weeks before application; factory paint on new vehicles can be treated directly. After finishing, pour any remaining product back into the aluminium bottle, seal immediately and store upright; it keeps for approximately 1 year after opening. Use only ultrasonically cut Profi microfibre cloths (999241), and have several clean cloths ready to prevent textile finishing agents or residue from affecting cross-linking.

Suitable surfaces

  • Fully cured paintwork on private cars, commercial vehicles and motorcycles.
