Car Odour Removal Hong Kong
Causes · Options · Pricing

Hong Kong's humidity means cabin odour almost always comes down to A/C mould, fabric that has absorbed a spill, or lingering smoke residue. This page walks through the four main causes and the public pricing and turnaround for three treatment options, so you can pick the right one instead of just spraying more air freshener.

  • Source first

Not just masking with air freshener

  • Steam + enzyme

Breaks down what's soaked into fabric

  • Ventilated before pickup

    Ozone levels back to normal

  • From 90 minutes

    Same-day drop-off and pickup

The four main causes of cabin odour

  • A/C evaporator mould

Hong Kong's humidity leaves condensation on the evaporator after parking; the mould that grows there gives off a sour, musty smell the moment the A/C switches on.

  • Fabric seat and carpet spills

Coffee, milk-based drinks and pet urine soak into the foam layer beneath the surface. Wiping the top dry doesn't stop it fermenting underneath.

  • Smoke residue

Tar particles cling to the headliner, A-pillars and air vents — spraying air freshener only masks it.

  • Damp boot and spare-tyre well

Ageing door seals let water in, and a spare-tyre well that stays wet long-term can give the whole cabin a musty smell.

Frequently asked questions

How much does car odour removal cost in Hong Kong?
LETS GET WASH Kwun Tong lists ozone sanitising from HK$680, A/C vent sanitising from HK$980 and steam deep-clean deodorising from HK$1,280. If the odour has more than one source, we quote the combined price up front, before any work starts.
Is ozone treatment safe?
The cabin stays sealed and empty during the treatment. Afterwards we force-ventilate and let the car sit before releasing it, so ozone levels return to normal before you drive off. For pregnant passengers, infants or pets, we recommend the steam option instead.
Can smoke smell be completely removed?
Heavily smoked-in cars usually need ozone combined with steam cleaning of the headliner and fabric, which typically removes 80–95% of the smell. If the headliner has yellowed, it's worth treating at the same time or the residual smell tends to come back.
How long does the result last?
Once the source is actually dealt with — a filter replaced, a spill cleaned out — the result can last months to a year. If it's only surface masking without fixing damp or mould, the smell usually returns within about two weeks.
How long do I need to leave the car?
About 90 minutes for ozone, roughly 2 hours for vent sanitising, and 3–4 hours for the steam deep clean. You can pick a slot when booking online and we'll message you once it's ready for pickup.
